No matter when you come,
Patchwork in the Peaks
is the perfect place to
relax, rejuvenate, and create!
SAVE THE DATE!!
Nestled high in the nearby French Alps is a very special chalet. Outside the air is cool, the leaves are alive with beautiful colours. Inside, the whirr of sewing machines can be heard amongst the laughter. It must be Patchwork in the Peaks! BNQ is proud to host this semi-annual quilter’s retreat, 4 days of pure relaxation in the French Alps (Morzine valley).
Surrounded by gorgeous alpine views, it will be easy to slip into relax mode. There will be daily workshops and tutorials to inspire and motivate your creative spirit. Hosted in a beautiful three-storey chalet with inspirational views, mornings are spent in classes on various techniques and afternoons leave time for individual instruction or time to work on your own personal quilting PhD’s (Projects half Done). I have more than 20 years of experience quilting and teaching various techniques. My mission with Peaks is to give quilters a dedicated time & space to discover, develop and revel in their creativity.
Peaks is conveniently located approximately one hour from Geneva, at Ferme á Jules. This chalet is perfectly situated amongst the peaks of the Morzine valley of France. A beautiful 19th Century Savoyard farmhouse, it was built in 1808 and is situated near the village of Montriond, on the eastern side of the Morzine valley, only about a 20 minute walk from the picturesque Lake Montriond.
Along with comfortable beds in stylishly decorated ensuite bedrooms, you’ll discover an open, bright roomy workplace, large lounge with comfy sofas, fully catered meals, sauna, and a Jacuzzi hot tub.
You’ll find individual work tables, design area, cutting boards, rulers, and pressing stations with irons, all organised to help you have a productive, stress-free weekend. You can bring your own machine or rent one of Clare’s for a nominal fee. Mornings will feature workshops and tutorials and all afternoons are unscheduled to allow you plenty of time to get on with finishing any PhDs (Projects half Done) that you may have brought or learning a new technique.
We also have Suki to help you get some quilting done on a mega scale! Suki is the Juki sit-down longarm, available for rent by the hour, which is onsite and ready to help you get those tops done! It’s much like using your domestic machine to free-motion quilt, just a lot more space to move around. No previous experience is needed (we can show you how!). As with any sit-down longarm, ONLY free-motioning quilting is possible as there are no feed-dogs. You are the guide and piecing is not recommended.
You’ll have a couple of Quilt Fairies to help you out with any questions or you can ask for a crash course on a topic of your choosing. La Ferme a Jules is also a short walk to the village centre of Montriond, so you can just as easily take a relaxing walk if you choose. The sewing areas will be open at all times. Early Birds & Night Owls welcome!
The Craft House will be onsite with a selection of cut fabrics, needles, rulers, cutters, batting, and other miscellaneous quilting tools you may need. There is also a selection of Quilters Dream batting, in twin or queen size, various lofts available as well. If you wish to have a king size of a particular loft, you can let me know ahead & I’ll bring it along. Quilters can “run a tab” for shop items and will be billed via Paypal after Peaks. A local masseuse will be on-site to give 45 or 90 minute massages in the afternoons. You will need to pre-book a space. There is an additional charge of chf 85/155, respectively.
We look forward to welcoming you on Thursday, from 10am onwards! 🙂 All meals, all workshop tuition and lodging are included in the price. Transportation to/from Geneva Airport can be arranged if needed, for an additional fee. Facilities include individual beds, ensuite shower/toilets for all rooms, hot tub, individual work tables with adjustable padded chairs with rolling wheels, ironing & cutting stations. A lovely place to relax, rejuvenate, CREATE.
Allocation of bedrooms will be on a first come, first serve, full payment basis. There are both double and single bedrooms, based on availability. All bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with showers, some with a bath as well.
